For a first Busan Metro journey, choose a valid ticket, confirm the direction and keep the same payment method ready for the exit. The network also connects with separately operated railways, so do not assume a Metro pass covers every train drawn near Busan.
Adult fares and the ticket choice
Busan Transportation Corporation’s fare guide, checked September 7, 2026, lists adult transport-card fares of ₩1,600 for section 1 and ₩1,800 for section 2. Its adult single-use QR fares are ₩1,700 and ₩1,900. Check which section your journey uses at the machine or operator’s route information; do not select a cheaper section by guessing.
The fare table has different passenger categories. Child, youth and resident benefits have conditions, so this article’s examples use adult fares rather than assuming a discount applies to every visitor.
Four steps from the concourse to the exit
- Find the destination and the line/direction before entering. Seomyeon connects Lines 1 and 2; the route you choose determines the platform.
- Use a supported transport card with sufficient balance or buy the correct QR ticket at a station machine. Keep the QR code readable.
- Follow the platform’s destination signs. If changing lines, follow the transfer signs instead of exiting the station unnecessarily.
- Use the same card or ticket at the destination gate. Ask staff if an exit reader rejects it rather than leaving the fare unresolved.

Visit Busan’s transport guidance explains the network and ticket types. It specifically excludes the Donghae Line and Busan–Gimhae light rail from Metro commuter passes. The pass and a compatible stored-value card should not be treated as the same product.
Transfers and final trains
Busan’s guide describes transport-card transfer discounts within 30 minutes, limited to eligible route changes. Keep the exit tap and the relevant card; airport limousine services are not covered by that transfer discount. For a precise fare involving another operator, use its published transfer conditions rather than adding two full fares automatically.
There is no single last-train time that safely answers every route. Open the operator’s station timetable, select the departure station and direction, then check any second line you need. The last train on the first line is useless if its arrival misses your connection.
Before carrying luggage through the gates
Identify the lift or escalator route from the actual entrance and avoid blocking a gate while deciding where to go. A station-to-station estimate does not include the hotel walk or finding the right lift. If that final part is the difficult one, compare a short taxi leg after the train rather than assuming the entire journey must be by taxi.
