Search for Gyeongju Station when booking the high-speed rail arrival formerly called Singyeongju. Do not plan a short city-centre walk from an old map entry for the closed central station.
The station-name change matters
Gyeongju City announced that the high-speed station’s name changed from Singyeongju to Gyeongju on December 28, 2023, after the old Gyeongju Station had closed. The announcement says the booking and information systems were updated. City’s station-name announcement, checked September 7, 2026.
A guide still saying “Singyeongju” may be referring to the current high-speed station, but the old central-station pin is not the same place. Match the station on the actual ticket to your route.
Compare train and bus by the destination in town

Use the railway or bus booking result for the actual date. A shorter main ride can lose its advantage if the first and last transfers are inconvenient. Do not compare the train’s riding time with the bus’s door-to-door time.
A compact first-visit sequence
- Reach the historic-centre area and make Daereungwon/Hwangnidan-gil your first focus.
- Allow time for lunch and the surrounding streets.
- Continue toward Cheomseongdae if the walking conditions and time suit you.
- Keep one additional site optional, then return for the booked train or bus.

Do not add every famous Gyeongju area
Bulguksa, the Bomun area, the museum and the historic centre should not be treated as one compact stop. Pick the interest that matters most. If a temple or another farther destination is essential, remove part of the central-area plan and calculate that additional transport.
Plan the return before the first attraction
Keep the correct station name, departure time and the trip back from your final site. Set a leaving time with room for the local connection. A reservation from the high-speed station does not solve the journey from the historic centre to that station.
