Choose one reason to leave Busan, then test the whole outward and return journey. Gyeongju, Ulsan, Tongyeong and Geoje offer different day shapes. Their city names alone do not tell you how close the arrival station or terminal is to the place you want.
| Destination | Possible focus | Transport detail that changes the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Gyeongju | Historic-centre sights | The high-speed station, formerly Singyeongju, is not the closed old central station. |
| Ulsan | A Taehwagang-area or city outing | Distinguish Taehwagang Station, Ulsan’s high-speed station and the garden entrance. |
| Tongyeong | Harbour/market outing | Include the journey between the intercity terminal and the waterfront. |
| Geoje | One selected coastal destination | Reaching Gohyeon does not complete the trip to every attraction on the island. |
Gyeongju: solve the station first
Use the Gyeongju station and route guide before booking. For a first visit, a compact historic-centre plan is easier to protect than adding a distant temple, lake and evening stop to the same day.
Ulsan: do not confuse the river, garden and station
Ulsan’s published rail material identifies the Bujeon–Taehwagang connection. That confirms a different railway context from a high-speed arrival at Ulsan Station; use the current timetable rather than the times in an old service-expansion announcement. City rail context.
If your destination is Taehwagang National Garden, search the actual garden entrance. The city lists its information centre at 154 Taehwagang National Garden-gil. Garden facilities and addresses. A station sharing the river name is not proof of a short walk to the garden.
Tongyeong and Geoje: start from the correct bus terminal
Busan’s transport directory places Seobu Inter-City Bus Terminal at Sasang and lists Tongyeong and Geoje among its destinations. Check the selected departure and arrival terminal in the live booking result.
Geoje also publishes a Hadan–Geoje direct-bus route and departure table. Geoje route information. This is another starting point to compare, not a reason to assume every bus leaves from Sasang. Include the local journey from the arrival terminal to your chosen coast stop.
A go/no-go worksheet for the day
- Write the one attraction or area that makes the trip worthwhile.
- Record the actual departure and arrival station/terminal.
- Add the local journey at the destination in both directions.
- Choose a return earlier than the final acceptable connection.
- Count the useful time left for the outing after those journeys and a meal.
If the remaining time is too small, choose a nearer outing or make it an overnight trip. Boat trips, cable cars or remote coast stops need their own operating and booking checks; do not add them as if the bus ticket includes them.
