Shortlist hotels by their actual entrance and the journeys you will repeat. A property described as “Gangnam” may not be beside Gangnam Station; “Mapo” does not automatically mean the Hongik University airport-rail stop. Match the street address to the station you intend to use.

Start with three candidate areas
Myeongdong is associated with Line 4 and central shopping; Hongik University connects Line 2 with the airport railroad and Gyeongui–Jungang line. These are useful starting facts, not a reason to book the first property carrying the district name. Myeongdong reference · Hongik University connections, reviewed September 7, 2026.
Use the Myeongdong–Hongdae–Gangnam comparison to choose the area. Use this article for the next decision: which actual property works inside that area.
Fill this worksheet for each hotel
| Field | Record this | Why it changes the choice |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance | Full Korean address and usable station exit | The nearest station label may hide a long passage, crossing or hill. |
| Arrival | Airport service, final stop and walk/taxi leg | A direct main ride can still end with a difficult bag transfer. |
| Repeated journey | Route to your two main activities | Count the return as well as the outbound trip. |
| Room | Bed arrangement, bathroom, lift and occupied floor | A cheap listing may have a different physical setup. |
| Timing | Check-in deadline and early/late access method | A room you cannot enter after landing is not a workable bargain. |
| Total | Final room price, transport difference and cancellation terms | Compare the full stay, not a rate for another date or room. |
Price the inconvenience explicitly
Example with invented comparison inputs: Hotel A saves ₩15,000 per night for three nights, or ₩45,000. If its location adds two taxi legs that you estimate at ₩20,000 each, the apparent saving is only ₩5,000 before the extra travel time. Replace both taxi estimates with current quotes for your actual route; this is a calculation method, not a claim about Seoul taxi fares.
Likewise, a hotel nearer your arrival station may cost more but remove a second transfer with luggage. Decide what that is worth to you before sorting solely by price.
Verify the last hundred metres
- Open the hotel’s own location instructions and copy the Korean address.
- Check that the map result is the correct branch of the brand.
- Read the final walking segment from the exit you will actually use.
- Ask about lifts or steps if you cannot carry the bag comfortably.
- Check late-entry instructions using your expected Korea arrival date.
Keep the base stable when it solves the trip
Moving hotels inside Seoul consumes packing, checkout, storage and another check-in. Change base only when it removes enough repeated travel or serves a distinct part of the trip. A one-night airport stay before a very early flight is a separate calculation; see airport-area accommodation choices.
We do not rank individual hotels without checking a particular room and date. This guide provides a comparison method and verified transport context, while the property’s final booking terms remain the source for the room you buy.
