Start with the time you need to reach the destination, not the mode you originally preferred. A sold-out train search may still leave another useful departure, a different station, a flight or a bus. Compare each from your actual starting address to the place you need to reach in Busan.
Re-check rail without changing the problem
- Confirm the travel date, passenger count and direction.
- Check earlier/later departures that still meet your real arrival deadline.
- Review another operator or departure station only after calculating how you will get there.
- Verify the station on the final ticket before payment; a familiar train brand is not proof of the departure location.

Why the shortest flight can lose the comparison
Illustrative calculation: 40 minutes to the airport + a chosen 60-minute predeparture allowance + 60 minutes flying + 30 minutes after landing + 50 minutes to the destination = 240 minutes. These are example inputs, not a flight schedule or an airline-recommended allowance. Replace them with the carrier’s requirements and current route details.
The useful lesson is to compare 240 minutes with the whole rail/bus alternative, not to compare only the 60-minute flight segment. Keep baggage and the final address in the calculation.
Bus terminals are part of the ticket
The tourism authority warns that express and intercity services can use different terminals even for the same destination. Its bus guide lists terminal and booking information. Match the terminal written on the selected departure to your map; do not go to the nearest place named “bus terminal.”
If every useful departure is unavailable
Compare moving the journey to another day with the cost of forcing an unsuitable connection. If a hotel, event or onward flight is involved, contact the relevant provider about its actual change conditions. Do not book several incompatible alternatives without checking their cancellation rules.
For an existing delayed/cancelled train, use the ticket-status and refund workflow. A voluntary switch and an operator cancellation are not the same process.
Before paying
- The departure date and station/terminal are correct.
- The full journey meets the arrival deadline with a margin you accept.
- Your bag meets the selected service’s rules.
- You can complete the final local journey and hotel entry.
- You know what happens to any original ticket.
