Gimhae Airport is connected to Busan by a separate light-rail line. From the airport, use the Sasang connection for Metro Line 2 or the Daejeo connection for Line 3. Choose the connection from your destination, not simply the first train you see.
The common Sasang route
- Follow airport signs to the light-rail station and check that the train goes toward Sasang.
- Travel to Sasang and follow the transfer to Metro Line 2.
- For Seomyeon, use Line 2 toward Seomyeon. For Busan Station, change at Seomyeon to Line 1 toward Busan Station.
- For Haeundae, continue on the relevant Line 2 direction, then check the final walk from the station.
The operator’s line diagram places Airport between Seobusan Industrial Complex and Deokdu. Sasang and Daejeo are different directions from Airport. Busan’s airport-transport guidance identifies their Line 2 and Line 3 connections.
Do not add the fares blindly
The light-rail operator’s fare page, checked September 7, 2026, lists adult transport-card section fares of ₩1,600/₩1,800 and a ₩500 metropolitan transfer charge, with additional conditions for section 2 and fare differences. Its example of a section-1 Metro/light-rail transfer totals ₩2,100. That is a published example, not a flat airport-to-any-hotel fare.
Use the correct destination/section and a supported transport card if relying on transfer pricing. A Busan Metro commuter pass does not include the light rail. If using separate single tickets, follow the ticketing instructions for each operator.
Which option fits your destination?

Large suitcase: compare the right type of bus
A local city bus and an airport limousine are different services. Visit Busan lists size/weight restrictions for local bus luggage and recommends other transport for larger bags. Do not assume a route labelled “bus” has an underfloor luggage compartment or accepts your suitcase.

Before a late arrival
Check the light-rail departure in the right direction and every Metro connection needed after it. Save the hotel’s Korean address and a taxi alternative. If arriving after the useful rail connection, do not go to the platform merely because the line itself still has a train in another direction.
For an onward KTX, calculate flight arrival → airport exit → rail changes → Busan Station interior → boarding. The advertised ride time between two stations is not the whole connection. If the transfer has become too tight, resolve the rail-ticket options before racing across the city.
